The mission of the College of Arts and Letters at Stevens Institute of Technology focuses on the following two goals:
First and foremost, to provide for all Stevens students, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, a comprehensive and relevant education in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, emphasizing the ways in which the history and development of science, engineering, and technology influence and inform our world.
- This is achieved in the following ways:
- By educating engineers, technologists, entrepreneurs, and scientists in a manner that enables them to become literate, articulate, and ethically responsible.
- By educating artists and humanists to be comfortable with advances in science and technology, as well as proficient in the history and development of the fields that encompass them.
Second, to advance research and scholarship at the intersection of science, technology, the arts, and humanities. This is achieved through our unique and distinctive academic programs, centers, conferences, and resources.
