Prof. Russell Lecture in Paris on Computer History

Professor Andrew L. Russell will be speaking at the Institute of Communication Sciences of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS-ISCC), in Paris, France, on Tuesday April 3, 2012.  His lecture, “Histories of Computer Networking: Autocracy, Democracy, and Critique,” will be followed by a panel of distinguished French computer scientists who designed and built the experimental Cyclades datagram computer network in France in the 1970s.  Prof. Russell's lecture and the subsequent panel have been organized by Dr. Valerie Schafer, a historian at CNRS who oversees a seminar series on "Histories of the Internet."  The event will conclude two days of oral history interviews, conducted by Prof. Russell, that are part of a project on "European Contributions to Computer Networks" funded by the Association for Computing Machinery History Committee.
