Title: Click Fraud - Challenges and Remedies

Online advertising is an essential element of Internet economy. Detecting and preventing click fraud is crucial to the prosperity of online advertising. In this presentation, I will first give an overview of online advertising and click fraud. Then, I will talk about several systems and applications that have been developed and deployed in fighting click fraud.
Tim (Jia-Yu) Pan is currently working on the Ad Traffic Quality team at Google Inc. His research interests include anomaly detection, clustering techniques, WWW technology, and data mining on multimedia and graphs. He has received three best paper awards from the conferences ICDM 2006, ICDM 2005, and PAKDD 2004. He was the conference co-chair of the EITA-YIC conferences in 2012 and 2013, and has organized several workshops, including the Multimedia Data Mining workshop series (MDMKDD) in 2008 and from 2010 to 2013, which were held in conjunction with the ACM SIGKDD conferences. He received his Ph.D. degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
