The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) has appointed Raju Datla, Research Associate Professor in Stevens Institute of Technology's Civil, Environmental & Ocean Engineering Department and Davidson Laboratory, as Chair of its Planing Craft Committee. The committee conducts reviews of state-of-the-art technology, advises the larger design community as to future research needs and awards research funding to universities.
Raju's leadership role will significantly elevate our standing in the community, and should lead to additional sponsored research in high-speed planing craft design, said Michael Bruno, Director of the Center for Maritime Systems at Stevens and Professor of Ocean Engineering at Davidson Laboratory.
