Biomedical Engineering Students Take First Place at National Poster Competition
December 7, 2009
A team of biomedical engineering students from the Stevens Institute of Technology was recently awarded first place in a poster competition at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). Aaron Rella, a 2009 graduate of the Biomedical Engineering program, presented the poster on behalf of senior design teammates Jenifer McGuire, Katherine Reighard, and Mariel Menafra.
The project, entitled "Evaluation of a Posterior Cruciate Ligament Tensioning Device," was supervised by Professors Valdevit, Hazelwood, and Ritter and represents the second time in the last three years that a Stevens biomedical engineering team has taken first place at the ISPE meeting.
The poster competition is an exhibit where students can graphically display their research initiatives and present a brief question and answer segment which provides the audience with further information.
The annual contest is held at local ISPE Chapters and Affiliates with winners qualifying for the International Poster Competition at the ISPE Award Meeting. It offers the chance at receiving a cash reward and the opportunity to publish their materials in ISPE’s magazine entitled Pharmaceutical Engineering.
