September 2, 2010
The announcement of Professors Woo Young Lee and Hongjun Wang's infection-resistant orthopedic nanocomposite research funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) has been making the rounds at medical product and nanotechnology news websites. Dr. Lee and Dr. Yang, both at Stevens Institute of Technology, have been recognized by the NSF for their ongoing efforts in developing the inkjet printing of drug-eluting, bioresorbable micropatterns onto the surface of orthopedic implants, as a novel means of preventing bacterial infection of the implants. News of their grant, first published on this blog, is appearing in a growing number of professional and academic resources, including Nanowerk, MediLexicon, and Medical News Today.
