Problem-based learning (PBL) has been shown to result in better content knowledge, problem solving ability, metacognitive skills and attitude toward learning. In addition, PBL results in enhanced communication and teamwork skills, understanding of professional practice, and ability to apply learning to solve problems. PBL is currently the most popular pedagogy for teaching design and has also been widely used for first-year cornerstone courses. Descriptions of PBL in [Read more...] http://www.stevens.edu/ses/cems/news/single_news.php?news_events_id=3882 http://www.stevens.edu/ses/cems/news/single_news.php?news_events_id=3857 Safe High Performance Solid Polymer Electrolytes for Lithium Batteries October 3, 2012

Presented by Peter Kofinas, University of Maryland Details coming soon [Read more...] http://www.stevens.edu/ses/cems/news/single_news.php?news_events_id=3857 http://www.stevens.edu/ses/cems/news/single_news.php?news_events_id=3856 Environmentally Benign Energy Technology Development September 19, 2012

Wednesday, September 19, 2012 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM Babbio 320 Dr. Marco J. Castaldi, Associate Professor, Chemical Engineering City College (CCNY) of The City University of New York (CUNY) ABSTRACT The confluence of natural and human driven events have shown how acutely sensitive the world, and in particular the United States, is to energy supply and security. Furthermore,if we consider where the world stands today in terms of energy use and where it will be in 100 years, there is a significant challenge to meet the expected demand in a more CO2-neutral way. Therefore, a primary objective for new energy technology developmentmust be to produce [Read more...] http://www.stevens.edu/ses/cems/news/single_news.php?news_events_id=3856 http://www.stevens.edu/ses/cems/news/single_news.php?news_events_id=3658 Nature Inspired Materials Science January 25, 2012

Michael F.
