Mathematical Sciences Seminar
For Fall 2009 the department seminar will take place on Mondays starting at 4:00pm. The seminars usually present current research in pure and applied mathematics and are intended for a general audience. The topics are typically in the areas aligned with the research interests of the department faculty: stochastic systems and optimization, nonlinear differential equations, applied probability and statistics, applied algebra, and graph theory.
Algebraic Cryptography Center
The Algebraic Cryptography Center is actively engaged in investigating new techniques in the fields of computational algebra, algebraic cryptography, and complexity theory, and their applications to practical problems in cryptography and cryptanalysis. The Center sponsors numerous visitors and weekly research seminars. The Algebra & Cryptography Seminar, jointly sponsored with the CUNY Graduate Center, meets on Fridays.
Stevens Society of Mathematicians
This seminar series is organized and sponsored by the department's graduate student association, Stevens Society of Mathematicians (SSM). Speakers include graduate students, Stevens faculty, and speakers from outside Stevens. In Fall 2009 the SSM seminars will be held on Wednesdays at 2:00pm in the department lounge, Kidde-104. Join the ssm mailing list to receive notification of upcoming events.
The SSM also serves as a Student Chapter of the Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics (SIAM). All Stevens students, graduate and undergraduate, are welcome to join. To learn more about the student chapter, see the SSM contact information below.
