Visit the Mechanical Engineering Department
 

Our Department is located at the historical Edwin A. Stevens Hall on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Our building was the original Stevens Administration Building built in 1870 by architect Richard Upjohn. Upjohn also designed Trinity Church in New York City.

Department offices are on the third floor, please contact the ME Department for more information.

Public Transportation

From New York
 

Subway:
Take Port Authority Trans Hudson (PATH) subway, marked Hoboken. Stations are located on the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) at 33rd, 23rd, 14th, 9th an Christopher Streets and at the World Trade Center. It is a 10-minute walk from Hoboken Path Station to Stevens. You can also take a local Washington Street bus or a taxi.

Bus:
Take New Jersey Transit Bus No. 126 or the Red Apple Bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal at Eighth Avenue and 40th Street in Manhattan. The bus goes directly to Hoboken and travels down Washington Street.

 

 

From Points West of the Hudson River
 

Airplane:
Use Newark Airport. Cab fare from the airport is about $25.
Or else, take "Airlink" (New Jersey Transit bus service, 1-800-772-2222) from the airport to Penn Station, Newark. Then go by PATH train to Exchange Place, Jersey City and switch to the train for Hoboken. Bus: Connections may be made in Journal Square, Jersey City, for Downtown Bus No. 5-6, marked Jersey City-Weehawken, to Washington Street in Hoboken. Trains: Many NJ Transit trains stop in Hoboken. Other NJ Transit and Amtrak train lines stop in Newark. From Newark, Monday through Friday, take a PATH train to Exchange Place, Jersey City for a westbound PATH train marked Hoboken.
On weekends, take a PATH train marked World Trade Center and transfer at Journal Square, Jersey City, for a westbound PATH train marked Hoboken/33rd St.

Bus:
Connections may be made in Journal Square, Jersey City, for Downtown Bus No. 5-6, marked Jersey City-Weehawken, to Washington Street in Hoboken.

Many NJ Transit trains stop in Hoboken. Other NJ Transit and Amtrak train lines stop in Newark. From Newark, Monday through Friday, take a PATH train to Exchange Place, Jersey City for a westbound PATH train marked Hoboken. On weekends, take a PATH train marked World Trade Center and transfer at Journal Square, Jersey City, for a westbound PATH train marked Hoboken/33rd St.

Driving
 

From New York City
Take the Lincoln Tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, bear to the extreme right and go through the overpass marked Hoboken.

From New Jersey and Points South and West of Hoboken
Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 16E (if coming from the South) or Exit 17 (if coming from the West) toward the Lincoln Tunnel. At the sign marked "Last Exit in New Jersey" (Weehawken, Hoboken), exit to the right and turn right at the second traffic signal.

From Upper New York State and New England
Take the New York State Thruway to the Garden State Parkway South. Get off at Exit 153 and take Route 3 East toward the Lincoln Tunnel. At the "Last Exit In New Jersey" sign, exit right and turn right at the second traffic signal.

Once in Hoboken
On either Willow or Park Avenue, proceed over a small bridge and make a left at 14th Street. Go two blocks to Washington Street and turn right. Take Washington Street for five blocks and turn left on 9th Street. Go two blocks on 9th, then turn right on Castle Point Terrace. Park in the 8th Street Lot, which is directly ahead of you.
